Classification is the process of arranging (or organizing) things, subjects or items in groups or classes according to their resemblance & affinities and give expression to the units of attributes that may support among the diversity of individuals.
There are different modes of classifications, such as,
- Geographical Classification: It is according to place, area or region.
- Chronological Classification: It is according to the lapse of time such as month, year, weeks etc.
- Qualitative Classification: It is according to the attributes of the objects, subject or items. Data is classified according to, for example, gender, qualification, color, gender etc.
- Quantitative Classification: Here, data is classified according to the magnitude of the numerical values such as age, income, weight, height, etc.
